“It’s tough. I tried to explain that. I’ve learned to express myself — I don’t think you express yourself when you’re 16, 17, you know what I mean? I learned to express myself to other adults, whether it’s talking to a coach, the media, whatever, in an English environment. What I struggle with in French a little bit is I try to make sure I say what I mean. In English, I can do that.
“In French, I want to make sure that I do that. So that’s why I take my time a lot and I ask for the right words, because once it comes out of your mouth it comes out of your mouth. I’m not ashamed that I look for words. I’m going to keep getting better, but it’s more important to really say what I mean than getting the right words in all the time. That’s why I ask Chantal all the time. Chantal’s awesome.”
