- Marc Bergevin a bel et bien MARCHÉ sur son ORGUEIL..
- Et plus il parle..
- Plus ça devient CLAIR"
- Karl Alzner sera RACHETÉ l'été prochain...
"Alzner, in particular, was a difficult player to scratch not only because it put an end to his 622-game ironman streak, but mainly because it was the first game of the second year of his five-year contract worth $4.625 million a season. But he didn’t earn his spot in the lineup because he proved unable to do the things Reilly did so well; move the puck, close space quickly, join the rush, play fast.
“We chose the 20 best players to start the season,” Claude Julien said prior to the game.
There’s the change. A contract will not get you in the lineup. An ironman streak won’t either. And neither will the perception that by scratching Alzner, Julien was showing up his general manager.
That’s because the general manager was 100 percent on board with the decision.
“I’m disappointed with how he played last year and where he’s at now, but it’s up to him,” Marc Bergevin told The Athletic just prior to the game. “I have no ego that way. You need to be better, that’s what our expectations are, and if you’re not, you’re not going to play. I don’t care if I get criticized, that’s just the way it is. I have no issues with that.”"
