Arizona Coyotes defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson was attacked by his family’s 7-year old German Shepard. OEL escaped with 4 stitches, antibiotics, and a tetanus shot. Unfortunately, the dog had to be put down. The reason the dog had to be put down is because when they consulted with an expert they were told that when a dog attacks a member of his own family without provocation, it’s reverting to a head of the pack mentality and there is a high chance that the dog would attack again, usually escalating to a worse attack. They have children and young family members around, so the recommendation was that he had to be put down.
