The Dallas Stars have received more recent calls from teams on him, sources said. Obviously, they would need to retain salary or take a contract back to make any deal work.
The 35-year-old Khudobin, just two years removed from backstopping the Stars to the Stanley Cup Final in the Edmonton bubble, has this year and next left on his contract at a $3.33-million AAV.
Would Edmonton take a chance on him? The Oilers have zero cap room, (so no Carey Price), they would have to be creative with the Stars helping to make it work.
And the second year left on the contract may scare the Oilers away. But, given the minimal asking price and the Oilers’ desperate need in goal, I say why not take a look?
