- WOW...La Gazette "ASSASSINE" Geoff Molson et Marc Bergevin...
- Avec un article, sur l'affaire Logan Mailloux...
"The Habs felt it was more important to select who they thought was a good player than to send a message to society about consent and respect. They chose success on the ice over taking a strong ethical stand. And that was so wrong".
"That said, it’s a bit disingenuous to say the choice of Mailloux was all about giving a young man a second chance. That’s not why Bergevin and his scouting head Trevor Timmins went with Mailloux. They did it because they thought he’d help them win hockey games. The day after the draft, Timmins said it was a “hockey decision” and it was. He also added that Molson was fully aware of the choice.
Almost everybody deserves a second chance, especially a young man with his entire life and career ahead of him. But picking him in the first round after he asked not to be drafted isn’t giving him a second chance. That’s essentially saying there will be no consequences for what you did in Sweden — and that’s wrong. A second chance is not selecting him in the 2021 draft and having him wait a year before making his way to an NHL team, giving him ample time to mull over the impact of what he did.
The Ontario Hockey League suspended Mailloux indefinitely, though he can apply for reinstatement in January. The odd thing is that it seems almost everyone except Canadiens executives understood from Day 1 that there needs to be real consequences for someone who engages in this kind of behaviour and that taking an ethical stand is more important than winning hockey games".
